When we look at the amount of about 200 states registered at UNO, only a few deserve to be considered as states. What is required to be an ideal state? It is not the kind of government or selection of the rulers. A good state can be a dictatorship, a kingdom, a republic with only one or many parties, name itself a parliamentary democracy, counsels republic or whatever system. The decisive part of statehood is the existence of an entity which is able to defend its borders and protect its treasures. A bad ruler can be replaced but the state has to be kept alive and functioning.
A state which doesn't fulfill the required demands is a useless state and at the end of a degradation process it will stop to exist.
Observing the the 200 states of this world based on key requirements, we must admit, that most don't have enough treasures to keep the economy alive and most of the states are not able to defend themselves against an internal or external enemy.
Therefore most of the states are vassals of a bigger empire or they have at least to be part of a defense union, which is led by one or many powers.
Being a vassal and pretending to be sovereign make the citizens and the rulers of such states look ridiculous.
Russia, China, Iran are such classical states. Also Syria has proved itself as a very strong state, which can function very well, even under war conditions. Yemen has a unbreakable core of statehood, based on tribal virtues. Somalia has been "enstaatlicht" and serves as a model of successful "Entstaaatichung" for other states like Libya, Yemen, Myanmar and others.
Whoever allows the imperial military, social (NGOs, religious missionaries) and economic institutions (IMF, World Bank, multinational imperial corporations) to take a hold within his country will face destruction and "Entstaatlichung" in short, middle or long term and open the gates of for the same fate of its neighbors.

Renditions, an underground prison and a new CIA base are elements of an intensifying US war, according to a Nation investigation in Mogadishu.

"As part of its expanding counterterrorism program in Somalia, the CIA also uses a secret prison buried in the basement of Somalia’s National Security Agency (NSA) headquarters, where prisoners suspected of being Shabab members or of having links to the group are held. Some of the prisoners have been snatched off the streets of Kenya and rendered by plane to Mogadishu. While the underground prison is officially run by the Somali NSA, US intelligence personnel pay the salaries of intelligence agents and also directly interrogate prisoners. The existence of both facilities and the CIA role was uncovered by The Nation during an extensive on-the-ground investigation in Mogadishu."
"Today, Somali government forces control roughly thirty square miles of territory in Mogadishu thanks in large part to the US-funded and -armed 9,000-member AMISOM force. Much of the rest of the city is under the control of the Shabab or warlords. Outgunned, the Shabab has increasingly relied on the linchpins of asymmetric warfare—suicide bombings, roadside bombs and targeted assassinations. The militant group has repeatedly shown that it can strike deep in the heart of its enemies’ territory. "
